"Embrace the Wait” draws its title from the idea that growth often happens beneath the surface, unseen—much like bamboo, which spends five years growing roots before a single bud appears. In our own lives, it can feel like nothing is happening in the areas where we crave progress. Yet, those seasons of waiting and hardship are often where the deepest refinement takes place.
This piece was the first I created after an 8-year hiatus from creative work. At times, it felt like all those years were lost, but I’ve come to see that trusting the process reveals the purpose behind the wait. “Embrace the Wait” is a reminder that there’s beauty in uncertainty and that growth often comes in the stillness before the breakthrough.
With its vibrant blue hues and delicate brushwork, this original oil painting captures the beauty within a portrait of a black woman adorned with a headwrap against a sky-blue backdrop.
